Volunteering

Be Part of It!

Turf field

Ballinrobe Town AFC has so many opportunities to get involved. Whether in coaching, managing, helping out, supporting the committee or working on our social media. If you want to get involved then we want to hear from you. Full training and support will be provided. Email coaching.btafc@gmail.com for further information or speak to one of our coaches.

OUR POLICY

Ballinrobe Town AFC is committed to the safeguarding of all children and vulnerable adults who participate in football. The welfare and protection of children and vulnerable adults in our sport are paramount. Our safeguarding policies have been developed as required by national legislation, policy and FAI guidelines.

To that end anyone kind enough to volunteer in any capacity,

whether coaching, managing, helping out, or being in and around games and training is legally required to meet baseline requirements including Garda Vetting and Child Safeguarding. You also need to complete a volunteer registration form with the club on an annual basis.

HOW DO I COMPLETE SAFEGUARDING?

Unlike Garda Vetting, Accredited Safeguarding Certification will cover you for multiple organisations. If you are unsure whether a cert you have will cover you please contact coaching.btafc@gmail.com

Ballinrobe Town AFC will reimburse the cost (Average €15) of course registration upon completion.

If you don’t have Safeguarding, this again is a legal requirement to have in place before you can begin working with young people. In most cases, it’s a 3-hour online course and is often provided by the following organisations.

If you have previously completed the training, it’s well worth taking this quick, free online refresher course

Dates tend to book out quickly so best not to delay. Here are some organisations that run Safeguarding courses on a frequent basis.

HOW DO I BECOME GARDA VETTED?

Step 1 - Download the following documents

Step 2 - Watch the video below explaining how to complete your Garda Vetting Process.

Please note, you may have been vetted for another organisation but we can only accept FAI Garda Vetting

Final Step

Once completed, fully return your Garda vetting ID validation form, Vetting Invitation form and copies of your verified identification in an envelope marked ‘Private and Confidential’ to: Child Welfare, Football Association of Ireland, National Sports Campus, Abbotstown, Dublin 15. You can also scan and upload them at www.fai.ie/domestic/safeguarding/garda-vetting.

Upon receipt of your Vetting Invitation Form, Garda ID Validation form and copies of your verified ID you should receive an email invitation to complete the remainder of your Garda vetting application online from the National Vetting Bureau.

Following this, you will receive a tracking number that you can use to track the current status of your Garda vetting application. When the relevant checks have been completed a Garda vetting disclosure will be returned to the FAI. The FAI will then follow the procedures outlined within section 10 of the Child Welfare and Safeguarding policy. Please refer to this policy for further details.
